Enjoyment: Teachers relax and enjoy Japanese stories told in this novel method.
History: Teachers learn about the history of kamishibai use in Japan and how it has changed over time.
Extensions: Teachers see the possibilities for expanding kamishibai use from receptive to expressive literacy development.
Planning:
Teachers learn how The Kamishibai Project was developed, and how
creating kamishibai can be tailored to a wide range of student ages and
abilities.
Integration: Teachers explore the
many subject areas that can be explored through The Kamishibai Project.
These include: Asian Studies, writing development, literacy and arts
curriculum, and social studies.
